Full custom brick mailbox build

The problem: The homeowner's older mailbox looked dated and worn. They wanted a more upscale, updated column that fit the look of the brick homes in the neighborhood.
What we did: Removed the old structure, poured a fresh concrete footing below frost line, and built a tall reinforced brick column from scratch. Finished with a wide limestone cap, a heavy cast-aluminum locking mailbox, and a matching address plaque set into the brick.
Materials: Reclaimed-style red brick, limestone cap, cast-aluminum locking mailbox, rebar-reinforced core.

Vehicle-damage rebuild

The problem: The original mailbox was struck by a driver and needed a full rebuild from the footing up.
What we did: Poured a new concrete footing, ran rebar through the brick courses, and built a brand new column with a brick body, stone base, and limestone cap. Installed a heavy cast-iron locking mail door.
Materials: House-matched brick, natural stone base, limestone cap, cast-iron mail door.

Repair or full rebuild?

Not every damaged mailbox needs to come down. What we can save depends on what happened below the brick.

Often repairable

A cracked or shifted cap with a sound column underneath
A few loose or broken bricks near the top courses
Open mortar joints from a glancing plow hit
A bent or broken mail door with intact masonry

Usually a rebuild

The column leans or has moved off its footing
Cracks run the full height of the structure
The footing is broken, heaved or was never poured
The base courses are crushed or displaced

We tell you which one you are looking at during the on-site visit, and we put the reasoning in the written estimate. If a repair will hold, we say so.

Brick matching

Close, and honest about it.

We try to match the brick and mortar on your house or your original mailbox. On newer homes that is often a close match. On older brick, the original run may no longer be made, and sun and weather have changed the color of what is already there.

When an exact match is not available, we show you the closest options before we order anything, and we explain how the new brick will look next to the old. We do not promise an invisible match.

HOA and associations

Paperwork support.

Many subdivisions require approval before a mailbox goes in. We can provide the brick and cap selections, the dimensions, and a written scope so you have what the association asks for.

Submitting the request and getting the approval stays with the homeowner, since associations deal with the property owner directly.

Insurance claims

What to photograph before anything is moved.

If a driver or a plow hit your mailbox, good photos make the claim easier. Take these before any cleanup.
